After completing a college degree in chemistry and two years of military service, Wayne apprenticed as a bench jeweler from 1976-1978 in Taipei, Taiwan. In 1978, Wayne moved to the United States where he joined his older brothers to work for the family jewelry business. In 1989, Wayne opened up his own wholesale jewelry business called Gemma Jewelry. On November 19, 1999 Wayne and Amy opened their first retail jewelry store called Ruby’s Jewelers.
